THE SPORTS EXECUTIVE

Daisy Radford – Vice President John AndersonDaisy Radford

Course:  Accounting

Clubs:  Hockey

My role as Vice President is to contribute to the running of the Sports Union and sit on the strategic development committees.  One of the main responsibilities of the VPJA is to organise the annual Sports Ball - one of the biggest Student Association events of the year!

Sitting on the executive committee last year gave me a great insight into the workings of the different clubs/sports that make up the Sports Union.  I hope to continue the good work we did last year and I am excited about the fresh ideas coming through the new exec members.

Amy Nolan – Vice President JordanHill

Course:  PGDE Primary Education

Club:  Rowing

I have just finished my degree in Psychology at Stathclyde and am doing a post grad in primary teaching.  This year I'm on the sports exec as VP Jordanhill.  I hope to encourage JH students to get involved in the Sports Union and its clubs.

I have been involved in the University Boat Club for the past 3 years, and have been on the committee for the past 2 years; as Social Convenor and last year as Senior Women's Captain.  It's a great way to get involved in university life and meet new people!  So whether you want to represent the University competitively or just want to join a club for the craic, I'd recommend everyone to get involved.

David Hibberd – IT Officer

Course:  Electrical & Mechanical Engineering

Clubs:  Curling, Canoeing & Mountain Biking

Being the IT Officer, I'm involved with communication with students, posting news, fixtures and results on the website as well as making it more useful and relevant for our members.  Ideally I'd like to get involved with helping further students awareness of the Sports Union and their involvement with the wide range of options available to them.  This is the only time in life you're going to have so much to easily try, so we might as well get everyone involved!

My job is to liaise with Strathclyde Telegraph and Fusion Radio to ensure that the Sports Union is promoted within the University as much as possible.  My aims this year are to encourage greater awareness of the smaller sports clubs and to heko clubs promote themselves and their events to the wider student body.
