CLUB BUDGETSEach year all Sports Union clubs are entitled to apply for a budget, which can be used to cover the cost of a transport, tranining costs, coaching, equipment and playing kit. To apply, a Budget Application form, distributed to clubs at the Final General Committee meeting of each academic year, is completed by a Club's Treasurer, and handed back by the end of the month of June for the following academic year. The Finance Committee are responsible for allocating budgets to clubs. CLUB ACCOUNTSIt is the responsibility of Club committee members, particularly the Club Treasurer, to ensure that they are at all times aware of the state of their club's account. Sports Union Club accounts are split into the following sections:-
This is used for a club's day-to-day trading which is funding by the Sports Union grant.
This is used to host collection money from one-off events (e.g. tours, kit, christmas dinners etc). The money belongs solely to the club and it is the responsibility of a designated individual within the Club Committee (usually the treasurer). The SU will monitor the funds and now allow the account to be overdrawn. Any purchases made using this fund will be the responsibility of the designated individual and of the club. The SU will NOT take responsibility for any purchases made from the Savings Account. At the end of the financial year, any funds remaining in this account will be carried over into the new financial year.
This account will allow clubs to pass funds from one year to the next. It can be used to host significant cash income through the sale of assets, or as a saving scheme to purchase expensive items. The use of this fund is controlled by the Sports Union and expenditure of funds must follow standard financial procedures.
