The Sports Union Awards are set up for SU club committees to put forward any club members who deserve recognition for their sporting or voluntary achievements.  There are many talented, enthusiastic and committed members of the Sports Union, and we encourage ALL clubs to aim to submit applications.

If you think a member of your club deserves recognition for their achievements, contribution, performance or dedication, then take a look at the Awards List below, and make sure you get your nomination in to show your thanks!

SPORTS UNION AWARDS LIST
  • BLUES

Outstanding individual performance to a sport.  Usually requires representation of country/district (BUCS & SUS), as well as success in University competitions.

  • HALF BLUES

A Half Blue is awarded for individual oustanding performance, where the individual has excelled at his/her sport, but has not reached the national/international standard required to achieve a Blue.

  • COLOURS

Awarded for being all-round-good-eggs.  For any member of your club who turns up for training sessions consistently - whether wind, rain or snow.  Your CORE club members who may never achieve the dizzying heights of sporting success, but where would your club be without them?

  • The Duncan Matheson Trophy

Awarded to the best first year

  •  The Graduates Trophy

For the best club of the year

  • Sportsman of the Year

The best male achiever in their chosen sport

  • Sportswoman of the Year

The best female achiever in their chosen sport

  • The Bursars Trophy

For outstanding contribution to the Sports Union either at club level or at Sports Union Executive level.

  • David Tedford Trophy

Awarded to the Best Team Performance.

  • Honorary Life Member of the Sports Union

Awarded to person who has contributed a significant amount of work to the Sports Union for a number of years.

  • Honorary Life Member of Section

Nominee must be a graduate, person who has contributed to your section with total dedication through their time at Strathclyde University.  This is at the club committee's discretion.
